As a Board member, we ask that you consistently act responsibly and prudently. Board Member's duties include:
1. Legal, fiscal and moral responsibility, along with fellow board members, for the well-being of this organization. As such, your responsibility is to:
- Know and approve all policies and programs and oversee their implementation.
- Interpret the organization’s work and values to the community.
- Keep up-to-date on the business of the organization. (Comprehensive Board Information Kit here)
- Excuse yourself from discussions, decisions and votes where you may have a conflict of interest.
2. Attend three of the four scheduled board meetings per year. If you cannot attend a meeting you should, if needed, be available for telephone consultation.
3. Be prepared for discussion by reviewing the agenda and all supporting materials prior to Board or committee meetings.
4. Make an annual "Give/Get" contribution to the organization. This contribution may be a personal contribution or one that is fundraised by others. It may be given as a one time donation each year or in mutually agreed to installments during the course of the fiscal year. The amount should be one that you consider generous. ($2500/year give/get)
5. Participate in one or more fundraising activities. This may include individual and/or special event solicitation or email appeals.
