CULTURAL RESIDENCIES

For 18 years, our NYC-based non-profit has proudly served as a certified DOE vendor, providing students with opportunities to discover their own innate capacity for the communication of ideas, thoughts, and feelings through the medium of dance. Our dance programs bring together artists from all over the world, fostering cultural exchange and understanding among diverse communities. We firmly believe that dance has the power to awaken a communal human spirit and can help create a more equitable and vibrant society.

As passionate advocates for arts education, we are grateful to continue offering our classes, workshops, and performances led by world-class artists starting this Fall. Our programs remain flexible to meet the evolving needs of our communities, ensuring that students can continue to experience the transformative power of dance.

Our curriculum is designed to align with the educational standards of NYC public schools and supports a holistic approach to learning, fostering creativity, physical fitness, teamwork, and cultural appreciation among students.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

Dance Parade's unique dance education programs are available to schools in all 5 boroughs, empowering students to share the joy of dance as a global community. Each year, our Dance Parade and DanceFest in Manhattan, held on the traditional territory of the Lenape people, serve as a culminating platform for students to showcase their talents and celebrate the richness of cultural diversity through dance.

TESTIMONY

"Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders have had the privilege of working with a Dance Parade teaching artist, learning dances from Haiti. The teaching artist's enthusiasm and embodiment of the language of dance is inspiring to our young students, and performing in the Parade and on stage in NYC has become one of the highlights of their year."

-  Eric Grande, Principal
P.S. 56 The Lewis H. Latimer School

"We believe in the transformative power of arts education, and Dance Parade NY's program has been an integral part of our students' education, fostering cultural appreciation and artistic development. We are excited about the possibility of bringing these programs back to our school and facilitating the students' participation in the parade in May to showcase their hard work and dedication alongside their teaching artist and a global community of dancers."

- Reina Potaznik, Dance Educator and Arts Liaison
P.S.86K Bushwick Magnet Multimedia and Arts Academy

Cultural Residencies may include assembly performances by one of our professional dance groups, plus student performances at their school or in the Parade as shown here!

Our Community Engagements programs bring the joy of dance to all corners of New York City: Cultural Residencies in schools, Ageless Action in older adult centers, and Community Kinect programs in Parks & Recreation Centers.
