Dance Parade invited choreographers and dance groups to submit a video that creatively reflects our theme "Dance Brings Us Together" in spite of the pandemic's isolation and social distancing. Cash prizes were awarded live at the Dance Parade May 22, 2021. See below for full contest rules and our 2020 and 2021 winners.
The 2021 Dare2Dance Contest continued to challenge choreographers to connect to their dancers who might be in isolation or observing social distancing and to submit a video of any length that reflected Dance Parade's 2021 theme, "Dance Brings Us Together." Three winners had one minute of their videos screened at the Virtual Parade on May 22, 2021.Once again, this contest was made possible through the genorosity of Nancy Steele of STEELE DANCE who has sponsored the cash prizes:
In May 2020, a few months into the pandemic lockdown, Dance Parade presented three one-minute videos in our virtual parade online. Choreographers of all genres were invited to tap into their creativity to come up with 60 seconds of dance movements with their dance company, club, or school. The goal was to inspire a connection to a choreographer's dancers in social isolation using remote video conferencing technology.
DanceFest strives to present artistic excellence and cultural diversity. Special thanks to Nancy Steele of STEELE DANCE who has sponsored the cash prizes:
