Job Description: Float Manager - Dance Parade NY

Job Title: Float Manager for the 18th Annual Dance Parade & Festival
Event Date: Saturday, May 18, 2024
Job Type: Part-Time, Contract

Summary: 
The Float Manager serves as the day of point of contact for all float issues. They'll report to the formation area at 9am, as groups are arriving to decorate and set up the floats. As each dance group arrives, they will check in with them that the graphics are correct. The Float Manager will be in contact with the Pre-Event Float Manager and Float Company in case there is a problem with graphics which often can get resolved before step off.  As the installation for sound systems is completed, the Float Manager will verify that the sound is adequate and that an audio tech will ride with each float. Work with Sayief and Greg to address any resolvable issues. Shortly after the parade begins (~12:30) the Float Manager will head to the end of the parade and check out with each group, logging any issues groups may have had with floats.

For context and familiarity the Float Manager will be looped in on pre production emails between the dance parade team and the float company. The Float Manager's phone number will be shared with the Parade Group Coordinators of the groups that have requested a float. 

Payment and Compensation:
$200 Stipend

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple parade groups and schedules.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms for compliance checks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A passion for the arts and a dedication to promoting dance in the community.

Time Commitment:

Must attend Pre-Event production meetings on zoom and in person walk-through, possibly including visiting float warehouse in Clifton, NJ and a walk through of parade formation site. Day of Parade on site from 9am-4pm.
