Ali Coleman is a Veteran NYC DJ, Party Organizer, Promoter and Nightlife Advocate. Ali served as Director of Marketing of an independent Direct Marketing agency, Image Advertising in NYC from 1998 to 2004. Where he conducted interviews; hired & trained new employees and was the lead account manager that led his team in successfully placing products in Todd Solondz’s 2001 film ’Storytelling’ as well as other independent films. As the team leader he trained and lead a team of 30+ direct marketers for 6+ years. His team sold billboards, cinema advertising, elevator & print advertising and other direct-marketing promotional materials, including entertainment and beauty. As a copywriter Ali was able to land ads for clients such as Barney’s, Joseph Wade’s Beauty Spa, Due Amici Pizzeria & Restaurant, Gotham Comedy Club, Dangerfield’s Comedy Club and many others.

Ali has been a DJ since 1979. He is the organizer of the Voice of voice NYC, Family Dance Brooklyn and a number of other NYC party events. Ali has hosted parties and DJ’ed some of NYC's top clubs & party spaces including Cielo, Santos Party House, Water Taxi Beach, Nowadays, Bossa Nova Civic Club, House of Yes, Shelter, Element, Limelight and many more over his 25 year professional career. He has shared the bill with over 200 DJ’s including: Francois K, Danny Krivit, Frankie Bones, Rich Medina, Justin Carter, DJ Spinna, Afrika Bambaataa, Jellybean Benitez, Spinderella, Rob Paine, Alex From Tokyo, Justin Paul and many others. From 1994 to 1999; Ali held the position of booking manager, label manager and ran day to day administration for Takamagahara; a Jazz band and record label. Booking gigs at many of NYC’s top Jazz clubs and venues, such as, Birdland, Cleopatra's Needle, The Bottom Line, Visiones, CBGB’s, The Knitting Factory, Don’t Tell Mama, Izzy Bar, Spiral and many others.

A NYC Nightlife Advocate since the late 90's and as part of the House Coalition; Ali along with a motley crew of New York’s creatives from many backgrounds, organized and brought about a historic change; by helping with to repeal the antiquated, sexist, racist NYC Cabaret Law. House Coalition is one of largest and best-known club-oriented dance groups in Dance Parade & Dance Festival, parading annually since the first parade.
