167 Dancers, 3 Dance Organizations, 0 Dance Styles --- Join Us Now!
Thank you to everyone who made Dance Parade 2008 a huge success! Over 4000 dancers from 108 dance groups performed 31 styles of dance down Broadway and across Saint Marks and finished off our second annual event with DanceFest. DanceFest was held this year in Tompkins Square Park and featured 9 types of free dance lessons and workshops and 3 hours of breathtaking staged performances with all kinds of performance artists throughout the park.
Dear Friends,
It is a pleasure to welcome everyone to the second annual New York Dance Parade!
New York is an international cultural capital, and dance is no exception. Whether they prefer swing or salsa, ballroom or ballet, some of the globe’s greatest dancers call our great City home. By uniting 4,000 dancers performing 31 dance styles, this terrific event will help heighten public awareness and appreciation of this singularly moving art form. New York has been the birthplace of dance styles such as salsa and tap, and we are delighted to host such a vibrant celebration of rhythmic movement.
On behalf of the City of New York, please accept my best wishes for an enjoyable event and continued success.
Sincerely,
Michael R. Bloomberg
Mayor
