Imagine 10,000 people of all colors, sizes, ages and rhythms dancing down Broadway to a city Park for a 3 hour parade followed by a 4 hour free festival…
It happens every year, a week before Memorial Day, and you can help make it so!
Searching for some passionate self-motivated people to take on leadership roles as we plan for the 2014 NY Dance Parade & Festival. As a volunteer supported organization, we look just like this life-celebrating event. We can’t stay still, and if you can spare 3-5 hours a week we urge you to join this wonderful organization! Right now, we’re especially looking for:
You’ll get the best people for the job! Involves representing the parade at fairs, festivals, symposia and networking opportunities and matching volunteers skills with the appropriate committees.
MARKETING AND PR
SPONSORSHIP & DEVELOPMENT
PARADE & FESTIVAL PRODUCTION
From curation to stage management to sound and vdeo production and tech.
DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATES & FUNDRAISERS
You’ll help us raise the funds we need to put on the parade, Festival and other events such as the dance component of the Winter’s Eve tree lighting cevent at Lincoln Center. This can include grant writing, securing sponsorships, providing leads, and planning events.
MARKETING, PR & PROMOTIONS PROFESSIONALS
You’ll help us get the word out about the parade! This can include anything from writing press releases to strategizing for our street team.

• PRODUCTION COORDINATOR FOR REGISTERED GROUPS: responds to all inquiries from dance groups, follows up on parade group needs and is chief liaison between registered groups and the Production Committee. As chief liaison, Production Coordinator will also connect groups to appropriate Dance Parade members as required or requested, inducts/trains all new committee members as Dance Parade Liaisons.
• VEHICLE COORDINATOR: secure Dance Parade vehicles as needed i.e. Grand Marshal presentation vehicles, day-of parade operation vans/cars, coordinate operational needs, insure parade groups w/vehicles adhere to vehicle guidelines, manage and distribute vehicle permits day-of parade.
