DESCRIPTION:We’re having a Zoom to coordinate a Pub Crawl on Friday\, September 22nd at 6pm in the East Village. Interested NYDP members should sign up for the 9/22/23 NYDP event here!\n\n\nBackground: \nThe NYDP (New York Dance Police) was formed in Dance Parade’s inaugural year as a playful protest to the racist 1926 Cabaret Law that restricted dance to licensed venues.  The NYDP squad mimics the “Cabaret Task Force” that in the Guiliani administration methodically fined and shut down nigtlife venues that allowed dancing. Despite the 2017 repeal of the Cabaret Law that restricted dance to licensed venues\, NYC’s Zoning Laws still do not allow dance in any venue under 200 patrons.
