Classical Chinese Dance with Eva Lu
This class is open to all who wish to attend.

The integration of body movements and breathing rhythm is the core language of the classical Chinese dance. It consists of eight basic elements: lifting, sinking, rushing, leaning, containing, thrusting out, moving horizontally and side lifting. The workshop will work through various practices in order to let you experience the concept of these eight elements and understand the posture, the movement, and the feelings of the classical Chinese dance as well as its own unique performance characteristics of "leading the form with the spirit and conveying the spirit with the form".

This will be a workshop of classical Chinese dance for Chinese dance lovers. Each session will start with a 20-minute body stretching and then introduce the typical training combinations of the body movements and the breathing rhythm of the classical Chinese dance for the remaining 40 minutes.

Taught in Mandarin Chinese.

Teaching Artist:

Eva Lu, received a Bachelor’s degree in Dance & Choreography and an MFA in Beijing, China. At the age of 28, she was cited as one of the nation’s outstanding dancers.
