Get your hats and whistle’s ready, not to mention your sexiest representation of New York’s finest in “dance” form! That’s right Dance Police, we want YOU!!! It’s that time again, the parade is right around the corner and we need your help! Many of you have expressed an interest in participating as a member of the NYDP…and why not, it’s so much fun! You get to meet amazing people and interact with spectators all through the parade while handing out tickets and promoting one of the most amazing events to hit NYC this year!

This year we have two awesome people who have volunteered to be our NYDP coordinators, Johanna and Amanda. Meeting time the day of the parade is TBD, Johanna and Amanda will follow-up with more detail once the volunteer list is more concrete (no later than Wednesday, May 16th). A general outline of what you can expect is below, please feel free to invite as many friends as you like, we’ll need an accurate account in order to make sure we have enough hats, whistle’s and badges available on the day of the event.
- We’ll need people in three distinct areas of the parade but will also need help with lining up the groups, floats and vehicles…and since you’re an official NYDP officer, people will follow your lead!
1) at the start on 21st & Broadway
2) at the grandstand
3) in the park
General uniform: All Black: jeans, skirts, pants, shirts, fishnets, heels…whatever makes you feel fun, funky and sexy! If you have something like the outfit below, feel free to rock it out! More conversations will be had about costumes as we get closer to the day…which is only 7 days away!!
- Each person will be given Police Pads, programs and flyers to hand out to the crowd as well as some general ideas of how to approach people when handing out tickets and get them involved in the parade.
Please make sure to register on our website and sign the volunteer form! It also gets you into the after party with Jonathan Peters at Webster Hall!!
