Dance Parade, Inc. is a volunteer supported non-profit organization! It is the dedication, expertise and rhythm of these brave few that are solely responsible for the success of the event and all the background work that goes on all year long leading up to the parade and festival. Every month, we choose a different volunteer to spotlight. We ask them a few questions to let you know who they are, where they’ve come from and where they see themselves in the future. It reminds me that Dance is a powerful way to express yourself and it is freedom that allows us to participate in such a wonderfully diverse form of expression.
What dance group are you most looking forward to seeing this year in the parade?
Volunteering at a non profit organization can at times be daunting and frustrating with limited personnel and limited funding….what is it that keeps you coming back for more and more?
I love being able to help out with 2 things I am passionate about: Dance and Finance. The Dance Parade is also providing me with great opportunities to learn and grow.
Describe a special memory you have from Dance Parades past?
Dance Parade 2014 was my first parade. I had a wonderful day and come Monday, I was talking to a coworker who was telling me what he did that weekend. He told me how he was at the Dance Parade and it was one of the best yet. It was a great thing to hear.
What pitch would you use to attract a new volunteer onto the Dance Parade team?
It is a lot of fun and you get to have a lot of hands on experience. It is also a great group of people to work with.
