Tangoliquide
Excerpt from my statement: Nina Goede, NYC 2007: Its about learning Tangoliquide dancing through improvisation, no steps learning, no leader/follower roles.
As a multimedia artist, composer , Tango-lover and dancer, I benefited from studying Tango with diverse Argentinean, French, US and Canadian teachers. Years of personal research and exploration have allowed me now to review the conditions for learning Tango and to develop a new approach in the dancing and calling it Tangoliquide.
Thoughts about Tangoliquide by Kyran Daisy (dancer/writer)
Tangoliquide is a dialogue between the two dancers. A chess game of sorts as they both have a say in the evolution of the dance and can accept or deny proposals and the interplay of lead and follow changes hands. I liken it to water. There are currents that swirl as hot and cold waters meet. The movement between the two dancers is always searching for a point of connection. I am never unaware of where my partner is or where their weight is. We are always in touch. It is one heart...one breath...one body.
For me it is a psychologically charged experience when dancing this properly. It is seductive and sensual, even erotic at times. Some things are still best left to the imagination and this is exactly what we hope to leave for the dancers...the chance to discover themselves and their partners through movements.
You must be in good shape and well conditioned physically to undertake this. It requires the ability to keep track of the music and to lose track of it in your selection of movements. You are playing with time, musicality...and each other.
